The second in the series and it was amazing! Yes the book is long, yes the book is very, very descriptive and you know what? I DID NOT CARE, I didn't feel it because the flow of the story; the way the relationship was built and everything happening in between, ended up being the cherry on top!
I love the family interactions, neighborly interactions, mother-daughters dynamics, and the connection with Sal Giglia, and the introduction to Benny and Francesca (left me guessing when we will see them).
I loved Joe (CAL) Callahan, another KA alpha male. As always, we have a man with a terrible past, very very sad. Actually it helps understand his behavior very well, why? Because, in true KA style the guy is rude, sometimes a complete ass, but fearsome, relentless, badass, and when he gives himself truly, he loves completely.
Violet, I understood her and I don’t blame her for what she does. If I was her, I would have probably done the same; she had an opportunity but faced the truth and stayed with Cal.
I loved how Joe staked his claim and how he spoiled Vi’s daughters; how he saves her from a nightmare. I cried during the middle, it was soooo sad.
Anyway…. I love KA’s book, absolutely and irrevocably love them.
