After so much waiting, and anticipating this book I can definitely say I'm a little disappointed, ok.. a lot. I am not going to deep with a review, just stating what I liked and disliked... There are reviews out there that I totally agree on and can't find better words myself (stacia and JennyJen) so here it is: My summary THIS IS A FILL-IN BOOK nothing "relevant" happens.-
I did not like:
1.- the side stories... Assail/Sola, Trez/Selena, these stories are introduced so that BDB is dragged to who knows how many books, and add the s'Hibe's storyline... first the sympaths now the freeking Shadows???? Why can't there be maybe a spin-off series about this instead of shoving it on BDB??
2.- The ridiculous jerking off scenes (useless, page fillers)
3.- The book felt like a fill-in just made in order to introduce more plot and more storyline. I understand where it's heading though.. adding two more "guests" inside the compound... and later on we will have the whole BOB living there.. mark my words... HEY--- maybe Wrath will end up abdicating the throne so that Xcor rules!!! Jajaja all friends and happily mated... full blooded heir.. Wrath finally gets what he really wanted since the first book LIKE NOT BE KING jajajaja
4.- The book gave nothing useful away, all full of mundane thoughts, each scene with the same stuff, repetitive inner monologues.. yada yada yada, blah blah blah
5.-The Lessers? WTF... 4 books in a row and the Lessening Society is still kind of missing the whole point of its existence, and lately they have become some kind of lame, pitiful, comic book, comedy bad guys..like super stupid and weak... WTF???
6.- Xcor... I like where his story is going.... yes.. and likely to be revealed in like 3 years or 3 more books or whatever.. I mean.. if he lives, which I am assuming he will, because poor Layla.. I mean... ALL will be forgiven in the end.. or maybe he will die and Layla will go to the freekin fade to be with him,.... whatever,,, I did not like his repetitive whining about the accommodations of his lair, him pining for Layla.. I mean... what did he do on this book.. talk on the phone, plot, plot, plot..?, whine... walk around.... kill some Lessers.... blah, blah.
7.- Assail.... just another Reverend.. interesting story.. I like the guy,..kind of
8.- Oh... I talked about the side stories but what about the things I disliked about the main storyline.. Qhuinn and Blay.. That whas the main storyline right??? Right??? Where was the romance??? Did I read a Paranormal Romance book? Or just plain silly erotica?.... WTF everything resolved and nice and loving in like 15 pages? WTF.. and everything else was just them.. fucking? And that's it??? They didn't talk about much, and I really, really wanted to read the romance and the soft parts of their union, but no.. It was all relegated to angry fucking, or pity fucking or just plain fucking without them knowing the truth of each other's feelings. Oh.. and the sex...hot on a hotness level that was not as hot as her other books... I think Ms. Ward got a little prude on this one or she just skipped the gay sex classes or porn flicks... but I mean there are different positions and other things they can do....just sayi'n.. OOOOH and JM.. where the hell was he???? Was he not BFF with these guys? Hellooooo?
I did like:
1.- The BDB induction.... nice!..
2.- Blay's parents
3.- Luchas (not the name) but the idea of what happened there is interesting and keeps me intrigued.
4.- The whole Tux scene in the Epilogue.
5.- Layla finally grows a personality
6.- Xcor and his .. beautiful female of worth...
7.- Qhuinn in his romantic mood :) love him!
Overall the book is fine, not the best either but I was hoping for a lot more than this :)
